A Bozeman official says 45 residents have applied for permits to keep chickens since city leaders amended the city's hen-house law two years ago.
Kathy Middleton tells the Bozeman Daily Chronicle (http://bit.ly/yYIrCg) that so far no one has sought to keep more than the allowed six chickens. Bozeman residents are not allowed to keep roosters.
Chickens were prohibited until a couple, forced to move their chickens out of town when a neighbor complained, formed the Community Led Urban Chicken Movement, or CLUC Movement, and got the law changed.
Bozeman resident Mary Kate Boling says sitting outside with her husband in the evenings with a glass of wine and watching their chickens is kind of like watching an aquarium.
Middleton says two people have called to report illegal roosters.
